lyrics

It rained hard and it rained long
Is it ever gonna stop?
The swollen lake behind the dam’s
fit to burst with one more drop.
Rivers break out, into the fields
The herds they head for the hills
The ice that melts way up north
The southern ocean fills

And man will wish he paid more heed
Followed up his thoughts with deed
Now he’s left wondering where it all leads
A paper boat just about afloat on choppy seas
Grab yer coat…time to leave

The sky is laden, the land is drenched
As sodden as a sunken log
And the only smile on a face out there
curls round the chin of an old green frog
Mansion and shack, red carpet dirt track
Washed away with the wipe of a wave
Many a man both lord and tramp
Swept to a watery grave

And man will wish he paid more heed
Followed up his science with deed
Now he’s left wondering
where it all leads
on a p-p-p-p paper boat
just about afloat
on choppy seas
Grab yer coat mate…time to leave

And here besides the rising tide I stand
Dowsing rods haywire in my hands
In a dark sky, gulls cry as they fly
Beating a wing…
Inland

The lowlands lie one hundred feet under
The high hills now a bog
The clouds that growl with rolling thunder
Are laughing along with that old green frog.
Palaces and towers …built to last
Now just rusty rooves for fish
A world once ours, now holds fast
And prays for one last twist

And a man will wish he'd paid more heed.
Followed up his science
with deed.
Now he's left wondering where it all leads.
On a p-p-p-p- paper boat just about afloat
on choppy seas.
Grab yer coat mate time to leave.

And here besides the rising tide I stand
Dowsing rods haywire in my hands
In a dark sky,
gulls cry as they fly.
Beating a wing…
How hard we'll all sing...
For dry land
